Carpet pads have two major benefits they make your rug even more comfortable and soft to walk on and they serve as a prevention method against dents. The ice will melt and the carpet will swell with the water removing the dent. To remove furniture dents from carpet made of synthetic fibers start by placing a towel rag or other absorbent material under the carpet where the dent is to protect the floor underneath. After the wood s dried for a few hours brush on a protective finish like paint or laminate to help protect the wood and cover up the dent.

Gently blot the area with a clean dry cloth to remove excess water. Next fill the dent with ice cubes and let the cubes sit for at least 4 hours. The pads help create an extra layer under the carpet that absorbs the pressure from the furniture thus eliminating the chances of marks appearing in the first place. If the dent is still bad wet the cloth again and repeat the process.

Leave the ice overnight. Use a soft bristled brush to fluff up the carpet once it is dry. Fill each dent with ice cubes. Once the cloth is dry check the dent to see if it s risen.
